Guidance to parenthood in the workplace

Today, one of the major challenges for companies is to attract new talents as well as to retain them. Moreover, the importance of work-life balance is nowadays an expressed and non-negotiable need. The well-being policy and, more precisely, the place given to parenthood in the company have become essential criteria and for some, even more than the salary level or any other benefit.

Knowing that more than 80% of employees are parents, it is nowadays essential to develop a policy of well-being in the workplace and to generate solidarity, in particular through support for parenthood.

This societal commitment allows to reinforce the employer brand and has a positive leverage effect on employee commitment and performance and productivity growth.

With this in mind, here are my various proposals to contribute to the development of a corporate culture that supports parenthood

Individual pre/postnatal coaching

The number of women anxious to announce their pregnancy increased from 12% to 21% between 2014 and 2019, this stress being a factor in the delay of the announcement. Establishing supportive means and a climate of trust would encourage the announcement of the pregnancy earlier and thus better prepare the leave and return of the mother-to-be.

I propose individual coaching sessions to be organized on site and/or by video with the mother-to-be (or the father).

I recommend starting the coaching as early as the 2nd trimester of pregnancy, to continue until the maternity/paternity leave.

A second phase is necessary a few days before returning to work, until 2 months after, in order to be able to take a step back on the transition and the action plan to manage this return in the medium term.

Individual parenting coaching

The parenthood subject is not only about the beginning of parents ‘life. Mothers, fathers and co-parents are regularly confronted with all sorts of challenges on their parenthood path (sleep, illness, disability, communication problems, separation, step-families, adolescence, etc.).

This comprehensive approach to parenthood is a sign of support in difficult times and a strong gesture to reinforce your employer brand.

Parenting coaching is an effective way to offer support in complicated times, to help stepping back and to change perspective.

I come to your office for individual coaching sessions (half-day) to be booked in advance on an online agenda. The sessions can, in some cases, be done by visio-conference.

Workshops and conferences

Nowadays, taking parenthood into account in the workplace is a very innovative concept. For some organizations, a first step of sensibilisation within the company is essential to embrace this new vision with its positive consequences for all.

Feeling good also has a positive effect on productivity at work, involvement in the company and pride in belonging to the company.

It is therefore necessary to guide managers facing these new challenges, in order to develop their empathy in their communication and to integrate the parents’ challenges in the management of their teams’ work.

I offer educational conferences and workshops to guide managers in this transition.

I also offer workshops on specific topics related to parenthood and its main challenges.

I can come to your office for short sessions to be organized during lunch time or in blocks of 2 hours.

Video conferencing can be an option if needed.
